Family
Background
On a more personal note, Rory is a second-generation native of Las Vegas. He graduated from Durango High School. During the 1930s, his great-grandparents on his dad's side migrated west from Oklahoma to escape the Dust Bowls, and his great-grandfather helped build the Hoover Dam, working as a carpenter. His great-grandparents on his mom's side sold their farm in 1944 in Farmington, New Mexico, loaded up their Model T Ford and headed West to California. Unfortunately, their Model T broke down in Nevada, and Rory's great-grandfather got a job working at a munitions plant in Hawthorne, Nevada during WWII. When the war was over, his mom's family settled in Las Vegas and have been there ever since. He and his family have seen many changes in the Las Vegas valley over the decades.
